  • Student-athletes at Nyack College earned an 11th place finish in the 2017 NCAA® Team Works™ | Helper Helper Community Service Competition for their community outreach efforts.

  • Before New York Ranger Matt Puempel joined his teammates for the biggest game of the season, he stopped to help a couple whose problems are a lot worse than playoff elimination. The young winger stunned the homeless boyfriend and girlfriend with a pair of primo seats to the Blueshirts Game 6 battle with Ottawa at The Garden.

  • NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Student-athletes from several teams at Southern Connecticut State University joined together on Saturday to assist at a Unified Sports event at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

  • GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Andre De Giorgi and Franziska Funke were named the male and female athletes of the year at “An Evening with the Pioneers” Tuesday night at Pioneer Arena. Over 500 student-athletes, coaches and guests were in attendance at the event, which honors Tusculum’s student-athletes for both on the field and off the field success.

  • A delayed celebration of Pi Day turned into a Pie in the Face day for teachers, when Lynbrook South Middle School hosted a creative fundraiser for Autism Speaks on April 28.

  • Residents of the East Meadow School District joined students, faculty and board of education members for the district’s ninth annual “Run with the Rams” 5K fundraiser, sponsored by the W.T. Clarke Athletic Department, on April 29.

  • In honor of NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo, who was killed in the line of duty last November, the West Islip and North Babylon varsity baseball teams and their respective communities joined together on April 24 to play a tribute baseball game at Bethpage Ballpark.

  • Glen Cove High School’s Student Senate, under the direction of adviser Ellen Lynch, hosted a dodgeball tournament on April 26 to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

  • Members of East Islip High School’s girls varsity lacrosse team volunteered during the EJ Autism Foundation’s 11th annual four-mile Jigsaw Run/Walk for Autism on April 23. The team, which participates in the event each year, ran one of the water stations during the race, held at the East Islip Marina.
