About:
Briarcliff Manor’s Todd Elementary School, recently named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, is giving back during a “Season of Giving.” The initiative launched on Oct. 31 with a weeklong candy donation, which encouraged students to bring in leftover Halloween treats that will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House at Westchester Medical Center. Students dropped off their candy in the appropriate blue bin for their grade level in the school’s lobby.
Students will next donate pajamas and books as part of the annual PTA-sponsored Stuff A Bus program, make donations to members of the U.S. Armed Forces in conjunction with the Briarcliff High School American Red Cross Club and bring in food for a holiday food drive, among other initiatives. Principal Nadine McDermott and fourth-grade teacher Lorraine McDermott are currently in Washington D.C. to formally accept the school’s Blue Ribbon award.
