About:
Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School third-graders and their kindergarten buddies shared the love on Valentine’s Day during a visit to Sky View Rehabilitation & Health Care in Croton-on-Hudson. “We prepared the kindergarten [students] by sharing pictures of past visits” said third-grade teacher Linda Reich.
The third-graders are no strangers to Sky View and participate in weekly visits to the rehabilitation center. The kindergartners tag along with their buddies to celebrate holidays including Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day and the beginning of spring. “The first time both classes visit together is when we make valentines with the residents” said Reich. “Doing crafts is fun and puts everyone at ease; the conversation just flows.” On Valentine’s Day, the students performed Valentine’s Day-themed songs, accompanied by music teacher Marlena Peters on the piano.
