About:
Dutchess County, NY, witnessed an incredible turnout for the local field hockey program, with over 70 participants from grades K-10 attending a clinic on Sunday. Players from the Vassar College Field Hockey team and the SUNY New Paltz team volunteered their time and expertise to run the event, showcasing their dedication to growing the sport in the area.
The two-hour clinic saw participants eagerly learning new skills and techniques from the college players, who arrived 30 minutes early and stayed afterward to help clean up. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident, making the clinic a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The program, which has been running since 2016, has greatly benefited from Vassar College’s consistent community partnership. Over the years, the Vassar Field Hockey team has coached leagues and clinics, significantly contributing to the development of young players in the community. The assistant coach at SUNY New Paltz, who also helps run the program, is proud to see the players’ passion for the game and their eagerness to volunteer their time for such a worthy cause.
This clinic was a win-win for the community, the players, and the sport of field hockey. The organizers are thrilled with the turnout and the positive impact it had on all participants. The goal is to continue growing the game in Dutchess County, and with such strong support from local colleges and enthusiastic young players, they are well on their way.
The organizers extend their gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this event. They look forward to many more successful clinics and the continued growth of field hockey in the community.
