About:
500 Albion College student-athletes volunteered hundreds of hours as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted 420 local children and some Special Olympians for its annual Winter Carnival.
SAAC raised funds through 50/50 drawing at home football games and through canisters for people to vote on which Briton coaches and athletic administrators they wanted to place in the dunk tank at the event. SAAC also received a generous donation from the College’s Student Volunteer Bureau.
“We do all we can to make sure these kids have a good Christmas,” Caitlin McClorey, Albion’s SAAC President said of the Winter Carnival and the Adopt-A-Family projects undertaken by several Briton teams. “It’s fun to pick out toys and clothes for the kids. It’s rewarding for us as student-athletes as well. It feels good to share the blessings we’ve received with the people of the community.”
