About:

As the Syosset High School Interact Club, we have launched our year-long 7 in 7 Campaign. Many student athletes from our school are apart of the Interact Club and have volunteered many hours towards raising funds and awareness for this cause.

This is an Interact initiative, but a school-wide effort. We have five student athletes on the Interact executive board alone, but many more in the general club. Those five board members have collectively done over 120 hours of service for this campaign.

The Interact club has over 250 students involved in this project!

Each year, more children are diagnosed with congenital heart defects than all cases of childhood cancer combined. About 10% of these children will not live to see their first birthdays. We are trying to prevent this to give these kids the chance to live.

Our goal as a community is to raise $35,000 to fund the life-saving heart surgeries of 7 kids from 7 continents in 7 days. Think about what we can do if we all work together!

In the past, the student club has sponsored surgeries for one or two children at a time. They have helped raise money for surgeries for 30 children.

The student have until May to raise the money. They are planning bake sales, skating events and bowl-a-thons over the course of the school year.

For more information on how to help, please contact our faculty advisor, Carisa Steinberg, at csteinberg@syosset.k12.ny.us.
