About:
As part of Leadership for Athletes program, student athletes from the girls soccer team volunteered their time to help at the food pantry. There, they unloaded two truck loads of food to be given to those in need in our local community. Our group works closely with the Food Pantry of Cooperstown, we bring up to eight students at a time to ensure the trucks get unloaded and dispersed into the correct areas of the building. Most volunteers from the Food Pantry are retired and they appreciate our youthful energy carrying heavy boxes up and down stairs. The Food Pantry has come to rely on our organization every month to provide student athlete leaders an opportunity to assist in unloading their monthly deliveries. As a student athlete, I have found this experience rewarding and I leave there feeling a sense of pride. Our group enjoys working with the members of the Food Pantry.
