About:
Throughout the season, the General Brown volleyball program (modified through Varsity) organized fundraising events and participated in community activities. At the beginning of the season, we successfully conducted a shirt sale to raise funds for various organizations focused on drug addiction and overdose awareness. All athletes contributed to the shirt sale and encouraged purchasers to wear them at the match dedicated to this cause. Carthage also joined us in this initiative, which culminated in a match held between the two schools at General Brown. The officials were supportive, allowing both teams to wear the same shirts even without proper numbering. On this occasion, both teams wore the shirts and General Brown raised $1250. These funds were allocated to representatives of the ARC Health SEP Program (syringe exchange program), Samaritan Mental Health and Addictions, PIVOT, Urban Mission Bridge Program, and Hope and Healing Recovery. This cause holds great significance for everyone involved, particularly our JV coach who was personally motivated to honor her late brother who battled addiction. Overall, the commitment shown by all players, including those from modified, JV, and varsity, resulted in lasting memories. The camaraderie within the volleyball community has always been strong, and engaging in activities like this across school districts is truly remarkable.
