About:
The 2023 Lynbrook Senior High School Soccer Teams consisting of both the boys and the girls on both the Varsity and JV level this year dedicated an entire week’s worth of games to support the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation. The players and coaches not only raising funds for the 501(c)(3) charity but shared and spread the extremely important mission of the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation. Mental Health and suicide prevention has become an epidemic among our young people in our communities, which is why it is important and necessary to support the efforts of organizations like the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation. The Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation is dedicated to helping those who may be struggling and are in crisis, in addition to educating the community to help prevent suicide. The Foundation works within the schools to educate and empower the students through the Sources of Strength Program, a national suicide prevention program based in social and emotional learning.
Through their efforts, the players and coaches raised over $1500 in donations and played 4 games of soccer wearing special jerseys that featured the RPO Foundation logo as well as the school name signifying the united effort to bring awareness to mental health issues. Mr. O’Shea addressed the crowd at the varsity games, we included the younger players from the town soccer club to join us for introductions and had several community and school distinguished guests on hand.
Playing the game of soccer is something these athletes and coaches truly love to do and being able to share their love of the game and dedicate that to an important and worthwhile issue makes being a Lynbrook Owl even more meaningful!! #OwlProud
