About:
Corona, N.Y. – With the Thanksgiving holiday eminent, the Men’s Basketball team took a break from their practice schedule to serve our local community.
The Knights gave their time and efforts to the Florence E. Smith Center in nearby Corona, Queens over the weekend. The team prepared and packaged meals for the homeless. Those meals were then delivered to the homeless by Meals on Wheels vehicles.
The importance of these events were twofold for the team. Not only do they serve the local community, but they grow closer together as a unit. Men’s head coach Darryl Jacobs reflected on the event “It is very rewarding to give back to the community, especially the less fortunate.” He went on, “This was an important event for the team and I look forward to participating in it in the future.”
The Queens College men’s basketball team returns to action on Saturday, November 30, when they open East Coast Conference play against Molloy. The tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
