About:

On January 8th the Boys Basketball Team hosted 2019 Hoops for Hope.  Niagara Wheatfield vs. Grand Island. It was a cause game that honored the life of Julie Neville who lost her battle with Breast cancer back in October. She and her husband were Niagara Wheatfield residents. She was a teacher and coach in the Grand Island school district and was the daughter of the Grand Island Athletic Director Jon Roth. The evening included a donation admission at the door, a 50/50, a bake sale, basket auction and a half court free throw shot. The free throw shot was sponsored by a local subway and the Niagara Falls Hard Rock Cafe. The gym was packed to capacity with Niagara Wheatfield and Grand Island families and students, as well as the Neville and Roth family. It was a great night with lots of laughter, tears and great memories of a wonderful woman. All proceeds raised went directly to the Neville education fund for her 4 children. We are proud to announce we were able to raise over 3,600.00 for the family.  We also presented a pink basketball to her husband and boys that read “Julie Neville, Forever in our Hearts”

Grand Island and Niagara Wheatfield may be rivals on the court but they came together for a common goal and a cause that was near and dear to all of their hearts.
