About:
The Queens College fencing team dropped their swords in exchange for food and other articles last week as the members of the team participated in a midnight run in Manhattan.
The collection of Knights gathered food, coffee and toiletries and hit various homeless shelters, food pantries and churches around the borough to offer assistance to the homeless. The college even donated a van for the event.
“It was really rewarding,” remarked junior, Kathy Chan, “Helping out people in our own community teaches perspective and helps me understand the importance of giving back.”
The team spent about four hours, until well after midnight, driving around and dropping off toiletries and providing the homeless and downtrodden with sandwiches and coffee.
