About:
Long Island, N.Y – The Queens College women’s swimming and diving team spent part of its weekend last week on the beach in Suffolk County, Long Island. The team joined with SPLASH (Stop Polluting Littering and Save Harbors) to participate in a beach clean up. THe team spent most of the day combing the beach to collect litter that was ashore and to pick up garbage in the sand.
The team was amazed at the amount of garbage that washed up on the beach and the variety of trash that they picked up. Freshman Ashley Carter reflected on the day, “Not only did we pick up a lot of trash, but it was a great team bonding experience.”
