About:
In the spirit of selflessness, patriotism, and leadership, the Bob Feller Act of Valor Foundation’s Champions of Valor Program brings the values of service, sacrifice, citizenship, and legacy to the forefront for today’s youth. Inspired by the legacy of 40 Major League Baseball players who courageously put their careers on hold to serve in WWII, this program empowers the next generation to carry forward that torch of honor and duty.
For the past year and a half, I joined a team of dedicated volunteers to bring one of the Foundation’s most impactful events to life: the Run for Valor Race. Each week, we committed two hours to plan, organize, and promote this special event. Our mission was clear—raise money to support veterans, create community engagement, and inspire service through action.
Our efforts paid off. On race day, we welcomed 215 runners who came together not only to compete, but to honor our nation’s heroes. Thanks to their participation and our fundraising initiatives, we raised over $12,000. These funds were donated to provide emotional support and therapy dogs to veterans, as well as to support various (VFW) foundations.
This race was more than just a community event—it was a living tribute to those who have served, a lesson in leadership, and a testament to what young people can accomplish when united for a cause greater than themselves. It was a proud moment of purpose, service, and legacy in motion.
