The Smithtown West chapter of Athletes Helping Athletes, raised 381 lbs of food goods for Long Island Cares. The Athletes Helping Athletes President/Marissa Funke and Co-Vice Presidents Amanda Cohen and Emily Hickey delivered the 381 pounds of food that was raised at the dodgeball tournament on Thursday, November 20 to WALK FM Annual Food Drive at King Kullen in Commack.
The food was collected through an AHA sponsored dodgeball tournament. 24 teams of 6 players each participated. The entry was at least two cans of food or 2 food items from each participant. The club itself has 70 members so there was a total of 214 young adults involved.
Long Island Cares is one of the region’s most comprehensive hunger assistance organizations, serving thousands of individuals and families in need.
