About:
The theme of St. Patrick Huntington CYO Girls’ Volleyball team project was “Bottles for Baskets.” The players teamed up with the St. Patrick Huntington Church outreach organization, Trocaire, to provide Easter baskets to those less fortunate in their community. The girls raised the funds by collecting recyclable bottles throughout March and April of 2019. Some girls also collected additional donations from friends, community members, and family in support of this project. The week of April 8th, the girls purchased the materials for the Easter baskets. On April 14th, after the last game of the season, the players assembled the baskets as a team. They were able to make forty-six baskets for Trocaire. The baskets were delivered to Trocaire on April 15th and provided to community members in time for Easter. The girls enjoyed doing this project as a team. They will continue to look for opportunities to give back to the community. This project had a dual benefit to the community, as the girls were able to give to those less fortunate while also helping the environment by recycling bottles.
