About:
My name is Elizabeth Sultan, the founder of Peter’s Packages, and the daughter of Peter Sultan, who passed away suddenly this July. Losing my dad so early in life and knowing I would miss him longer than I had known him was something I never expected or was ready to face. However, I am learning and growing every day with the grief that I will forever carry with me. One way I have adjusted to this new life is by finding a way to honor my dad. My dad’s death was very tragic and sudden, which also means that he wasn’t hurting leading up to it. I had no preparation, yet he had no pain, which is why I am the one left hurting. When taking this into consideration, in his memory, I am starting an organization to support children and young adults who are also navigating grief. Peter’s Packages will deliver care packages filled with items and resources that brought me comfort and healing during this time. Through Peter’s Packages, my dad’s legacy will live on in a way that brings comfort, hope, and healing to others who had to sit front row at their first funeral and are facing the challenges of grief. I started fundraising and generating awareness this fall through the Westhampton Beach Girls Varsity Soccer Team, most prominently a game dedicated to my Dad, and spreading the mission of Peter’s Packages.
I started fundraising and generating awareness this fall through the Westhampton Beach Girls Varsity Soccer Team, most prominently, a game dedicated to my dad. At the game, the team wore headbands with the Peter’s Packages logo, and I spoke at the beginning and at halftime about my initiative. Peter’s Packages also ran a booth that sold branded t-shirts and cookies. I shared a flyer that launched the QR code for the Amazon Wishlist, where individuals are encouraged to shop for comforting items that will be meaningfully organized in packages and distributed to those grieving. Representatives from Peconic Bay Medical Center (where my dad worked) came to support the game and presented me with a check.
The team ultimately secured an exciting overtime win. The event was highly successful in launching this mission, and Peter’s Packages has since gained more support! We thank everyone for their generosity and vote.
