About:
Each September, Westlake High School proudly hosts its annual Spirit Day Fundraising Event, a community-wide celebration that unites students, families, and local businesses in support of a meaningful cause. In partnership with more than 90 community sponsors and organizations, Westlake student-athletes transform the campus into a lively festival atmosphere, complete with colorful tents, exciting pop-up shops, engaging games, and a wide array of raffles and activities for all ages.
Guided by the slogan “Many Teams, One Goal,” Spirit Day embodies the values of teamwork, service, and community pride that define the Westlake spirit. Throughout the day, youth football games take center stage on the Varsity field, creating a spirited backdrop for the festivities. 250 Student-Athletes from all 24 of Westlake’s Varsity athletic programs play a key role in coordinating and running the event—volunteering their time to manage booths, assist younger athletes, and ensure that every aspect of the day runs smoothly. Their leadership and enthusiasm are central to the event’s success, demonstrating the power of collaboration both on and off the field.
This year’s Spirit Day held special significance for the entire Westlake community. The event honored the memory of a beloved Westlake cheerleader who courageously battled pediatric cancer and whose strength continues to inspire all who knew her. All money raise through the Spirit Day initiative was donated to the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds innovative pediatric cancer research and treatment initiatives. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of students, families, staff, and local businesses, Westlake raised an incredible $103,871 for the foundation—a record-breaking achievement that reflects the compassion and unity of the school community.
Since its inception, Spirit Day has raised more than $525,000 for pediatric cancer research, demonstrating the lasting impact of collective action and shared purpose. Each year, the event reminds everyone involved that while Westlake may have many teams, its community always rallies around one goal—making a difference.
Through Spirit Day, Westlake Athletics continues to exemplify the true meaning of school pride: bringing people together, giving back to those in need, and using the strength of teamwork to create lasting change both within the school and far beyond its fields.
