For the past decade, Fontbonne Academy has made a powerful tradition of hosting annual breast cancer awareness games each October. This year, the Fontbonne Volleyball and Girls Soccer teams continued that legacy, using their platform to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Decked out in pink uniforms, socks, and warm-up jerseys, the athletes not only competed on the field and court but also united for a meaningful cause that impacts so many lives.
Fontbonne Volleyball’s annual breast cancer awareness game was a standout success, both on and off the court. The team secured an impressive win against Brockton High School, but the true victory was in the impact they made. Throughout the three matches, students from both teams contributed to a bake sale, with all proceeds benefiting the Ellie Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free services that ease the burdens of breast cancer patients and their families. Together, the teams raised $600 for this important cause.
Fontbonne’s commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness doesn’t end with volleyball. On October 16th, Fontbonne Girls Soccer held their own Pink Game, where players and the community wore pink to show their solidarity for those affected by breast cancer. It was a night filled with competitive spirit, but even more, it was a demonstration of heartfelt purpose and unity in the fight against the disease.
These efforts are just part of a broader initiative, as Fontbonne will also be hosting their annual Ellie Fund Walk on Sunday, October 6th, continuing their fundraising efforts. All funds raised will go directly to the Ellie Fund, supporting its vital services that make a real difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families.
Fontbonne Academy continues to exemplify the power of sports in making a meaningful impact, with students, athletes, and supporters coming together to contribute to a cause that touches so many. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who participated and supported these events, helping raise awareness and funds for such an important cause!
