The Oliver Ames High School hockey team has been making headlines not just for their talent on the ice but for their remarkable acts of community service this holiday season. From heartwarming events like the Teddy Bear Toss to volunteering and helping those in need, the Tigers are proving they are champions in more ways than one.
Kicking Off the Season with a Teddy Bear Toss
During their home opener against Silver Lake Regional High School at Asiaf Arena on December 14, the team hosted a Teddy Bear Toss. The event encouraged fans to toss stuffed animals onto the ice to benefit children in need. The incredible turnout led to a large collection of stuffed animals, which were donated to the Easton Police Department for distribution. This act of kindness reflects the generosity and community spirit of the Oliver Ames family.
Helping My Brother’s Keeper Brighten Holidays
Earlier in the month, the team partnered with My Brother’s Keeper, an organization dedicated to supporting local families in need. The players worked together to handpick and wrap presents, helping ensure that families would have a brighter holiday season. Their willingness to give their time and energy during the busy season showcases their dedication to uplifting others.
Restoring Yardley Rink After the Storm
The Tigers didn’t let a recent storm stop them from stepping up for their community. They took to Yardley Rink, working together to clear debris and prepare the space for future practices and games. This hands-on effort highlights their sense of responsibility and commitment to keeping their facilities in top condition.
Spreading Holiday Cheer at the Rockery Festival
On December 7, the team joined The Lions Club at the Rockery Holiday Festival, volunteering to bring joy to their community. From managing arts and crafts for kids to collecting ride tickets and running concession stands, the players demonstrated the spirit of giving back while building strong connections with festival-goers.
More Than Just a Team
The Oliver Ames Hockey team is setting an example for others by using their platform to serve their community. Whether it’s collecting toys, volunteering their time, or stepping up in emergencies, the Tigers continue to inspire those around them.
We’re proud of the Oliver Ames Hockey team for their leadership, compassion, and commitment to making a difference. Way to go, Tigers—keep up the amazing work!
