About:
The athelets were at the heart of this year’s Spike Out ALS event, playing an essential role in its success from start to finish. Their involvement went far beyond the court, they promoted the match through morning announcements, secured local sponsors, decorated the gym, and stayed late to help clean up. Most importantly, they brought incredible spirit and passion to the game itself.
The Spike Out ALS match has become a beloved annual tradition since its inception in 2017. It began as a heartfelt effort to support Rick, the father of a senior player who had recently been diagnosed with ALS. Witnessing the swift progression of his illness, the team was moved to take action and raise awareness in a powerful way.
On May 12, the team hosted Lexington High School for the 8th edition of the match (excluding 2020). This year’s event raised over $5,000 for ALS One, bolstered by a highly successful raffle that featured a Las Vegas vacation package. Leading up to and following the event, students and staff leveraged social media to promote the cause and extend its reach within the community.
This year’s match not only continued a meaningful tradition, it also showcased the impact that committed students can have when they rally behind a cause close to their hearts.
