About:
At Shen, football isn’t just about what happens on Friday nights—it’s about community, mentorship, and giving back. This year, the 57-member Shen Varsity football team continued a beloved tradition by supporting the Junior Plainsmen football program, a youth league where most of Shen’s players first fell in love with the game.
Every season, Shen Varsity players return to Junior Plainsmen practice, not as athletes but as coaches and mentors. With six teams in the program, roughly 12–14 varsity players are assigned to each group. They guide young athletes through drills, teaching fundamentals like tackling, running plays, and making smart decisions on the field.
The experience is more than just football instruction. Varsity players coach on the fly, offering encouragement, feedback, and leadership, helping the next generation of Plainsmen develop both their skills and their confidence. For many of the youth players, having Shen’s varsity team on the sidelines is inspiring—and for the varsity players, it’s a meaningful way to give back to the program that helped shape them.
By blending mentorship, teamwork, and hands-on coaching, Shen Football continues to strengthen its connection to the local community and ensure that the Plainsmen legacy thrives for years to come.
