About:
Orono Volleyball brought its community together for a meaningful Dig Pink Night, using the sport of volleyball as a platform to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research.
Held at Orono High School, the event invited students, families, and fans to wear pink and fill the gym with energy and purpose. With B Squad, JV, and Varsity matches throughout the evening, the night showcased not only competitive volleyball but also a shared commitment to giving back.
Proceeds from Dig Pink Night supported the Side-Out Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing innovative breast cancer research and improving outcomes through personalized care. By aligning their event with this mission, Orono Volleyball helped connect awareness on the court with real-world impact off it.
In addition to fundraising efforts, the program took time to recognize youth volleyball players, celebrating the next generation of athletes and reinforcing the importance of community connection across all levels of the sport.
Dig Pink Night is a strong example of how school athletics can extend beyond competition to inspire service, advocacy, and unity. Through leadership, teamwork, and compassion, Orono Volleyball demonstrated that when a community comes together for a cause, every point—and every act of support—matters.
