In a powerful act of remembrance and community pride, Bay Shore Middle School students dedicated a day of service in recognition of Patriots Day, volunteering their time to help clean headstones at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
The initiative provided students with an opportunity to honor the lives lost on September 11th while learning the importance of respect, gratitude, and civic responsibility. Working together to care for the memorial grounds, the students demonstrated how even small acts of service can carry deep meaning and preserve the legacy of those who came before us.
This thoughtful effort not only reflects the Bay Shore School District’s commitment to developing compassionate and engaged young citizens but also highlights how service learning can connect history, character, and community.
