About:
The Lakeville South PeeWee B1 Hockey Team spent their Saturday afternoon off the ice and out in the community, making a real difference.
In partnership with 360 Communities, the team came together to make tie blankets, assemble birthday bags, and collect non-perishable food items for families in need across Dakota County.
Before getting started, the players heard directly from representatives of 360 Communities about the organization’s mission and the impact of their work in helping families through food shelves, shelters, and community support programs. The visit helped the players understand how their efforts could make a meaningful difference for those facing difficult circumstances.
After the discussion, the team created tie blankets that will be distributed to 360 Communities’ shelters and food shelves. Many of the organization’s clients are currently experiencing homelessness or living in their cars, and these blankets will help keep them warm through the cold months.
The players also assembled birthday bags filled with cake ingredients, decorations, and a small gift. These bags allow parents served by 360 Communities to celebrate their children’s birthdays, even when financial challenges make it difficult to do so.
In addition, team families collected non-perishable food items to donate to the Lakeville food shelf run by 360 Communities. All of the materials used for this event were donated by the team’s families, reflecting their generosity and commitment to giving back.
This day of service was a wonderful reminder that the lessons learned through sports extend far beyond the rink. The Lakeville South PeeWee B1 Hockey Team showed that teamwork, compassion, and community spirit are what truly make champions.
