About:
In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Daniela Conte Foundation (DCF) once again united the Suffolk County athletic community through its annual Go Gold Shoelace Campaign this September.
With a mission to increase awareness and accelerate funding for pediatric cancer research and treatment, DCF rallied support from 40 schools and 15 youth sports teams across Suffolk County. Together, more than 3,000 student-athletes, coaches, and fans raised over $10,000 to advocate for children battling cancer and their families.
From soccer fields to volleyball courts to field hockey games, Gold-Out events have lit up communities in support of kids fighting pediatric cancer. The passion and energy from players, students, and fans turned the stands gold — sending a powerful message of love, strength, and solidarity.
And we’re not done yet! With more volleyball matches, track meets, soccer games, and football showdowns ahead, there’s still plenty of time to show your support. Even if your Gold-Out game has passed, let’s keep the momentum going strong all month long.
A huge thank you to every athlete, coach, and school who helped us kick off Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month with so much heart. You’re making a difference — one game at a time.
Beyond the numbers, the campaign sparked meaningful conversations about the urgent need to fund pediatric cancer research. The financial and emotional toll of a diagnosis can be overwhelming, and the Foundation’s work continues to provide hope and assistance to families facing these challenges.
“We are incredibly grateful to our community and schools who came together to support this cause,” said Katia Conte, President and Co-Founder of the Daniela Conte Foundation. “This September, we made a significant impact in increasing awareness for childhood cancer that doesn’t receive the attention it deserves.”
Thanks to your incredible support, this has been another remarkable year for the Daniela Conte Foundation. Can you believe that in just three years, our Gold Out Games have raised over $35,000 to help families battling childhood cancer? That’s the power of community!
And this year, for the first time ever, Gold Out Games have extended beyond September and into October, bringing even more schools and communities together in the fight against childhood cancer.
A big thank you to every student, fan, and athlete who wore gold and made this movement shine brighter every year.
Even though September is over, children battling cancer need our support all year long. Thank you for keeping the gold spirit strong! 🎗️
Each year, roughly 15,000 American children are diagnosed with cancer, yet many families are forced to make treatment decisions based on financial constraints rather than optimal care. DCF is dedicated to changing that reality—working toward a future where no parent must choose between paying bills and accessing life-saving treatment.
As the season of giving approaches, DCF invites the community to continue its support for children and families facing cancer. To learn more or get involved, visit www.danielacontefoundation.org.
