About:
The Everett Recreation Department hosted a vibrant city-wide soccer tournament in partnership with the New England Revolution on October 5th. Open to youth ages 6–18, the event brought children and families together from across the city for friendly competition, cultural celebration, and a full day of music, food, soccer, and family-oriented activities.
To support the younger divisions, ten current varsity boys’ soccer players volunteered as referees and coaches. They did a phenomenal job guiding, teaching, and motivating the young athletes and they had a great time doing it. Their leadership and enthusiasm created an engaging and welcoming environment for every participant.
The tournament was a tremendous turnout for the community and a meaningful opportunity for the players to represent their families, their school, and the Everett soccer program. It was especially rewarding to see rising juniors and seniors step confidently into leadership roles, helping to shape a positive experience for the next generation of high school soccer players.
As head coach, Rodney Landaverde have always emphasized the importance of community involvement and being exemplary role models both on and off the field. He was incredibly proud to see the boys embrace this opportunity, demonstrate what true leadership feels like, and share their program’s core principles of Respect, Discipline, and Faith with younger athletes.
Everett is home to an amazing group of players who continue to grow into strong, well-respected young men and this event was a powerful example of that growth.
