About:
The Wantagh Cheer program continues to shine both on and off the mat, thanks to the leadership and dedication of their NICE representatives. NICE — the community service arm of Section VIII Cheerleading — empowers teams across the region to take on meaningful service projects each season. Each team designates student-representatives who identify opportunities, organize collections, and inspire their teammates to give back. For Wantagh Cheer, that spirit of service is stronger than ever.
This year, three outstanding seniors have stepped up as the program’s NICE reps, guiding all three Wantagh Cheer levels — Varsity, JV, and Middle School — through a series of impactful initiatives. Their organization, communication, and enthusiasm have ensured that every athlete plays a role in making a difference.
In the fall season, the team completed two major projects:
• A school supply drive, providing essential materials to students in need in their community.
• Breast cancer awareness shirt sales, raising both funds and awareness for an important cause during October.
Now, as winter begins, Wantagh Cheer is rallying together once again — this time for a holiday toy drive to bring joy to local children and families. Under the guidance of their senior leaders, athletes from all levels are collecting new toys and helping to spread warmth and generosity during the holiday season.
With each project, the Wantagh Cheer program continues to demonstrate what it truly means to lead with purpose. Their commitment to service, teamwork, and community pride is something to celebrate — and a shining example of how student-athletes can make a lasting impact far beyond the sidelines.
