About:
Student-athletes from Valley Stream North made their first visit to Dever, where they spent the day connecting with 6th grade students and sharing meaningful life lessons learned through sports.
During the visit, VSN athletes introduced themselves, spoke about their experiences in athletics, and discussed the character traits that sports help develop—teamwork, perseverance, leadership, respect, and handling both success and adversity with grace. Their stories offered younger students relatable, real-world examples of how sports can shape confidence, responsibility, and strong decision-making.
This visit marks the beginning of what VSN hopes will be an ongoing mentorship connection with Dever students. By serving as positive role models and sharing their personal journeys, VSN athletes helped encourage younger students to believe in themselves and to carry these lessons into their academics, friendships, and future activities.
A wonderful example of Valley Stream North student-athletes giving back, leading with character, and uplifting the next generation.
