About:
This season of giving, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at St. Joseph’s University once again demonstrated the power of teamwork, compassion, and community impact through two meaningful initiatives: the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and their Adopt-A-Family service project.
Thanksgiving Food Drive: Supporting Local Families Through Generosity
SAAC kicked off the holidays with its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, collecting non-perishable items to support families in need. Donations are being accepted through Wednesday, November 27, with drop-offs located in the Danzi Center.
Student-athletes, coaches, and campus community members have been encouraged to give what they can—showing how small contributions come together to create big change.
Adopt-A-Family: Bringing Joy to Long Island Families
In partnership with the Family & Children’s Association of Long Island (FCA), SAAC also launched its heartwarming Adopt-A-Family service project. The group received six personalized wish lists—four for children and two for adults—and immediately got to work.
St. Joseph’s student-athletes united across teams to raise over $1,300, ensuring each family received thoughtful, meaningful gifts tailored to their needs and wishes. SAAC members shopped for each item, wrapped the presents together, and personally delivered them to FCA.
This project not only brought joy to local families but also strengthened the spirit of service and unity within the Golden Eagles community. “We were extremely grateful we were able to do something to give back to our community,” shared SAAC leadership.
A Season of Impact
Through both the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Adopt-A-Family initiative, St. Joseph’s University athletes continue to lead by example—showing that service, generosity, and teamwork extend far beyond the playing field. Their commitment to supporting Long Island families is a powerful reminder of what it means to uplift others during the holiday season.
