About:
Throughout the month of December, West Babylon Senior High School has come together to support community members in need through a variety of charitable collections and service-based initiatives, demonstrating the generosity and compassion that define the school community.
The school’s Guidance Department is hosting its annual Pajama Drive, collecting brand-new pajamas that will be distributed to local families through the school’s social worker. This longstanding initiative ensures comfort and warmth for families during the holiday season.
In addition, Ms. Zipkas is leading a schoolwide John Theissen Children’s Foundation Toy Drive, encouraging students and staff to donate new toys to help brighten the holidays for children across Long Island. The drive has rallied the entire school community around a shared mission of spreading joy.
The spirit of giving continues through the school’s LEO Club, advised by Ms. Lemmo, which is spearheading its annual Adopt-A-Family initiative. This year, the club is organizing gifts for 30 local families facing hardship. Beyond collecting donations, LEO Club members will take part in the heartwarming tradition of boarding the Kids Need More “Cheer Bus.” Students will visit 10 local families who have children with medical needs, spreading cheer by singing carols, playing games, and personally delivering toys.
Together, these efforts reflect the strong sense of service, empathy, and community spirit that define the West Babylon High School family. Through teamwork and compassion, students and staff are making a meaningful difference and ensuring that the holiday season is brighter for those in need.
