About:
A large box overflowing with jackets and winter gear in the lobby of Forest Lake Elementary School marked the success of a two-week Coats for Kids drive that concluded on December 9.
Led by Forest Lake’s Student Council in partnership with New York State Assemblyman Dave McDonough, the drive collected new and gently used coats for children and adults, along with winter essentials including gloves, hats, scarves, and earmuffs. The generous response from students, families, and staff demonstrated the power of coming together to support neighbors in need during the colder months.
This initiative reflects Forest Lake’s strong commitment to community service and student leadership, showing how even the youngest learners can make a meaningful difference. Through teamwork and compassion, Forest Lake students helped ensure warmth and comfort for members of the community this winter.
