About:
The Woodbury Boys Basketball program stepped off the court and into the community this season, volunteering their time to help families with groceries at Kowalski’s Markets.
Under the leadership of Coach Getzlaff, players worked together to assist shoppers by bagging groceries and helping carry them to customers’ cars. Sixteen players from the program participated, volunteering from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., demonstrating teamwork, humility, and service in action.
The initiative was made possible through the support of generous sponsors and community partners who helped create a hands-on and meaningful opportunity for the team to give back during the busy holiday season.
Beyond the immediate impact, the experience offered valuable lessons for the student-athletes. It reinforced the importance of volunteering within their own community while allowing local residents to see firsthand the respect, work ethic, and character of the players representing the Woodbury program.
By lending a helping hand, Woodbury Boys Basketball showed that being a Royal is about more than competition—it’s about service, leadership, and showing up for others.
