About:
The New London-Spicer LEO Club kicked off the new year with purpose, launching a meaningful service project focused on supporting local families facing food insecurity. Guided by the LEO values—Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity—students transformed the start of January into a time of action and community care.
From January 5–8, students organized a school-wide food drive with themed donation days designed to make participation easy and engaging. Each day highlighted a different category of need, including warm meals, breakfast items, kids’ favorites, and special treats—helping ensure a well-rounded collection for families during the winter months.
All donations benefited The Link, a local organization that provides critical support and resources to individuals and families in the New London community. By directing contributions locally, students were able to see how their efforts directly support neighbors in need.
This initiative reflects the mission of the LEO Club, empowering young leaders to identify community needs and respond with compassion and organization. Through planning, promotion, and collection efforts, LEO Club members demonstrated how student leadership can create meaningful, real-world impact.
The New London-Spicer community’s support of the drive helped turn a simple idea into a powerful reminder that small acts—when done together—can make a big difference. As the year begins, the LEO Club has set a strong example of service, generosity, and leadership in action.
