About:
The Duxbury High School Student Council has made service a priority this year, leading multiple initiatives that supported both the broader community and the DHS family.
In December, Student Council organized a food drive benefiting the Carolina Hill community. Thanks to the generosity of donors, essential items such as diapers and wipes were collected, and student volunteers went a step further by helping bake pies to bring additional comfort and care to Carolina Hill residents.
Earlier in the fall, Student Council also focused on giving back within their own school community. During a November Appreciation event, General Council members decorated thank-you cards and assembled comfort baskets for DHS Guidance Counselors, School Psychologists, Social Workers, Instructional Assistants, and Specialists—including OT, PT, SLP, and Reading staff. The initiative was a meaningful way for students to express gratitude for the educators and support staff who play such an important role in their daily lives.
Continuing that theme of appreciation, Student Council members also donated breakfast items and helped set up a festive Educator Appreciation Breakfast, ensuring teachers felt truly celebrated. With a fun seasonal touch, the event brought smiles and reminded staff just how valued they are by the student body.
Through these efforts, Duxbury High School Student Council demonstrated leadership, compassion, and a strong commitment to service. Whether supporting community partners or recognizing the educators who make DHS special, StuCo continues to show how student leadership can create lasting, positive impact.
