About:
The Sartell High School Boys Hockey team combined competition with compassion during their home opener on Friday, December 13, as they faced the Roseau Rams and hosted their annual Teddy Bear Toss.
Fans were encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game and toss it onto the ice during the first intermission. The response from the Sartell community was overwhelming, with the rink quickly filling with teddy bears and other plush toys—all destined for donation to Toys for Tots.
The annual Teddy Bear Toss has become a meaningful tradition for Sartell Boys Hockey, offering student-athletes and fans alike the opportunity to support children in need during the holiday season. By turning a night of hockey into an act of service, the Sabres demonstrated how sports can be a powerful platform for giving back.
Initiatives like this highlight the heart of high school athletics—bringing communities together, inspiring generosity, and reminding everyone that even small gestures can make a big impact.
