About:
What started as an idea brought to Stillwater seven years ago has grown into a beloved tradition that continues to make a meaningful impact each season.
Inspired by a Teddy Bear Toss the coach experienced while playing in the American Hockey League, the event was introduced as a fun and engaging way for the Stillwater hockey community to give back. Since then, the program has proudly hosted the Teddy Bear Toss every year—missing only one season due to COVID—building anticipation and generosity around a cause close to many hearts.
This season marked the sixth annual Teddy Bear Toss, with fans filling the rink and tossing new stuffed animals onto the ice during the game against Minnetonka. The energy in the arena was matched only by the purpose behind the event: every donated teddy bear was collected and delivered to Children’s Hospital Minnesota, helping bring comfort and joy to young patients and their families.
The Teddy Bear Toss has become more than a game-night tradition—it’s a reflection of Stillwater Hockey’s commitment to service, community, and using the sport as a platform to make a difference. Year after year, the program shows that a simple act of kindness can create lasting impact, one teddy bear at a time.
