About:
Mount Morris Central School brought its community together once again for its 16th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Fundraising Event, using the power of athletics to support an important cause.
The full day of basketball featured Mount Morris competing against Perry in JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys matchups. While the games provided excitement on the court, the true focus of the event was giving back. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through event sales will benefit local families battling cancer, as well as the regional American Cancer Society.
This longstanding tradition reflects a strong collaboration among student-athletes, coaches, school staff, and the broader Mount Morris and Perry communities. From organizing and promoting the event to supporting fundraising efforts, students played an important role in helping make the day meaningful and impactful.
Coaches vs. Cancer continues to be a powerful example of how school athletics can extend beyond competition to teach empathy, leadership, and community responsibility. Through sustained commitment and collective effort, Mount Morris has built a tradition that makes a real difference for families in need.
