About:
The Green Cup has become much more than a hockey matchup—it is a powerful annual tradition that brings communities together through sport, service, and shared purpose.
Held each year at The Bog Ice Arena, the Green Cup features the longtime rivalry between Duxbury and Marshfield, drawing players, families, and fans together for a full day of hockey. From youth games through Varsity competition, the event celebrates the sport at every level while creating an atmosphere rooted in pride, connection, and giving back.
Now in its 17th year, the Green Cup continues to grow in impact. Beyond the on-ice action, the event includes community-focused activities such as Chuck-A-Puck, contests, raffles, and special fundraising initiatives. This year’s tournament once again emphasized its charitable mission, with proceeds benefiting the Ewell Family, reinforcing the event’s commitment to supporting families within the hockey community.
Student-athletes play a central role in carrying on the tradition. From competing on the ice to engaging with fans and supporting fundraising efforts, players understand that the Green Cup represents something bigger than a final score. Coaches, families, alumni, and community partners also contribute to making the event successful year after year.
The Green Cup stands as a strong example of how athletics can preserve tradition while making a meaningful difference. Through sustained commitment, collaboration, and heart, this annual event continues to unite two programs—and an entire community—around the values of teamwork, compassion, and service.
