About:
Bishop Feehan Boys Basketball honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by turning a weekend of competition into a meaningful act of service for the local community.
As part of its 6th Annual MLK Food Drive, the Shamrocks collected non-perishable food and household essentials during their games against Attleboro, transforming McIntyre Gym into a hub of generosity and purpose. The drive aligned with Dr. King’s vision of service, reinforcing the idea that giving back is a responsibility shared by all.
Fans, families, and community members were encouraged to donate items they would use themselves, including pantry staples, cooking and baking supplies, personal care items, and snacks. The collective response was overwhelming, with donations accepted across multiple game days to maximize impact.
Following the conclusion of the drive, all donated items were delivered to the Hebron Food Pantry, directly supporting individuals and families in need throughout the Attleboro area.
Through this annual initiative, Bishop Feehan Boys Basketball once again demonstrated that education-based athletics are about more than what happens on the scoreboard. By combining leadership, teamwork, and service, the program continues to use its platform to strengthen the community and honor Dr. King’s legacy through action.
The MLK Food Drive remains a powerful reminder that when a school community comes together with purpose, the impact extends far beyond the game.
