About:
The Albany Huskies brought Purple Pride to the forefront with their Jam the Gym event during the girls basketball home game against Minnewaska, uniting students, families, and local businesses around a meaningful cause.
Held on January 16, the initiative invited fans to bring pop tabs or make a cash donation to support Ronald McDonald House Charities. In return, donors were entered into drawings for door prizes generously donated by local businesses—turning game night energy into community impact.
By pairing school spirit with service, the Huskies created an accessible way for everyone in attendance to contribute. The event highlighted how simple acts—like saving pop tabs or making a small donation—can collectively make a big difference for families who rely on Ronald McDonald House Charities during challenging times.
Jam the Gym exemplified education-based athletics at its best: engaging the community, empowering students to lead with purpose, and showing that the impact of high school sports reaches far beyond the scoreboard.
