About:
Students at James Wilson Young Middle School are coming together to support animals in need through the Pot of Gold Animal Shelter Drive, a student-led initiative focused on helping local shelters.
Running from March 2 through March 23, the drive encourages students and staff to donate essential items that will benefit animals awaiting adoption. All collected supplies will be donated to local shelters, including North Shore Animal League America.
The donation list includes items such as dry and wet dog and cat food, treats, toys, bedding (excluding pillows), poop bags, and cleaning supplies—items that shelters rely on to care for animals while they wait for their forever homes.
The initiative is sponsored by the school’s MUTTS Group, whose members are helping organize the drive and raise awareness about the needs of local animal shelters.
To add a fun element to the effort, the advisory group that collects the most items will earn a sweet reward—Munchkins and donuts—encouraging friendly competition while supporting a meaningful cause.
Through this drive, students at James Wilson Young Middle School are demonstrating compassion and community spirit by coming together to make a difference for animals in need.
