About:
Student-athletes from Spencerport High School recently spent an evening giving back to their community by coaching and mentoring young lacrosse players.
Members of the varsity girls lacrosse team volunteered their time to work with younger athletes, helping teach the fundamentals of the game while sharing their passion for lacrosse. The event provided youth players with the opportunity to learn new skills, ask questions, and connect with the high school athletes who serve as role models within the Spencerport community.
Throughout the session, the varsity players demonstrated drills, offered encouragement, and helped younger athletes develop confidence on the field. Beyond the technical skills of the sport, the experience also emphasized teamwork, sportsmanship, and the importance of supporting one another.
By stepping into coaching and mentorship roles, the Spencerport student-athletes showed what it means to lead both on and off the field. Events like this strengthen the connection between youth programs and high school teams while helping inspire the next generation of “Bears.”
Through their efforts, the varsity players from Spencerport High School continue to demonstrate how athletics can serve as a platform for leadership, mentorship, and community engagement
