Woods Road Elementary School in the North Babylon School District hosted its annual Kids Heart Challenge on March 6, raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association. Through the collective efforts of students, staff and families, the school community raised an impressive $25,383.
In addition to supporting an important cause, students participated in activities designed to promote heart health and wellness. Throughout the event, they learned about ways to care for their own hearts by staying active, eating healthy foods and maintaining positive daily habits.
Students were encouraged to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, drink plenty of water, eat a balanced diet that includes fruits and vegetables, and aim for 10 hours of sleep each night. These lessons reinforced the importance of making healthy choices that support overall well-being.
The event also highlighted the value of kindness and helping others. Students learned about children living with heart conditions and discussed how their efforts can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
