About:
Just days before heading to Nationals, the John Jay Cheerleading team showed that leadership and teamwork extend far beyond the mat. During a recent practice, the athletes dedicated time to preparing sandwiches for community members supported by Hope On A Mission (HOAM) — an organization that provides meals and essential resources to individuals in need.
With winter temperatures making daily life even more challenging for vulnerable populations, the team recognized the importance of stepping up to help. Their efforts reflected compassion, awareness, and a commitment to using their student-athlete platform to make a positive difference.
By taking part in this meaningful service project during one of the busiest and most demanding times of their season, the cheerleaders demonstrated strong character and a deep understanding of community responsibility. Acts like these not only support those in need but also help build empathy, leadership skills, and unity among teammates.
John Jay Cheerleading’s willingness to give back while preparing for a major competition serves as an inspiring reminder that success is not measured only by trophies or scores — but also by the impact made on others along the way.
