About:
Friends Academy Athletics recently hosted a memorable evening that combined youth mentorship, school spirit, and community engagement through its first Lower School Basketball Clinic, followed by exciting varsity “Red Out” games.
Beginning right after school, varsity basketball players stepped into leadership roles by working hands-on with students in grades 1 through 4. Young participants practiced key fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, and even had the chance to test their skills on a fun and challenging obstacle course. The clinic provided a supportive and energetic environment where younger students could build confidence while learning from high school role models.
The evening continued with the varsity basketball teams taking the court for their spirited “Red Out” games against Locust Valley, bringing fans together to show their support and school pride. A special halftime performance by the varsity dance team added to the excitement and showcased the depth of talent and teamwork within the Friends Academy community.
By organizing mentorship opportunities and fostering strong connections across age groups, Friends Academy student-athletes demonstrated the true impact of leadership through sport. Events like these help strengthen athletic programs, inspire younger students, and create lasting traditions rooted in community and pride.
