About:
The Pittsford Mendon Girls Basketball community is coming together to honor the memory of former student-athlete Holly Haefner, whose passing at the age of 43 has deeply impacted teammates, coaches, and the broader school community.
Haefner, a member of the Class of 2001 and a participant in the program’s first Rainbow Classic, is remembered for the joy, positivity, and energy she brought to both the basketball court and soccer field. After a long battle with an eating disorder, her loss has inspired former teammates to turn their grief into meaningful action.
In tribute to Holly’s life and legacy, members of the 2001 team are organizing a fundraiser in her name to support The Healing Connection, a Rochester-based treatment program that provides specialized care for adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders. The initiative aims to raise awareness and resources to help others receive the support and treatment they need.
Through this effort, the Mendon Girls Basketball family is demonstrating the power of sport to unite communities, honor those who have made a lasting impact, and bring hope to individuals and families facing similar challenges. Holly’s memory will continue to inspire compassion, advocacy, and a commitment to supporting mental and physical health for years to come.
