On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the 6th Annual ‘In Memory of Daniela Conte’ Blood Drive was held at St. Matthew’s Church in Dix Hills, bringing the community together for a lifesaving cause. A total of 61 donors showed up to donate blood, resulting in 54 successful units of blood donations, which will help provide lifesaving support to patients in need. Among these, four donors participated in the ‘Alyx’ Double Red Blood Cell donation program, which counts as two donations each, further increasing the impact of the event.
Notably, 10 of the registered donors were first-time blood donors, either giving for the first time ever or their first donation with the New York Blood Center – an important milestone for the future of blood donation. Convincing new donors to roll up their sleeves is no small feat, and this milestone is a testament to their dedication and advocacy.
A special shoutout goes to three remarkable high school students who led the effort. Over several weeks leading up to the event, they dedicated their time to planning and organizing the drive, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their passion and dedication not only kept the day running smoothly but also created a welcoming environment where every donor felt valued and inspired to give. Thanks to these donations, an estimated 186 lives will be positively impacted.
Organizing a blood drive takes creativity, teamwork, and heart. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, donors, and organizers alike, this year’s drive was not only a success but also a meaningful tribute to Daniela Conte’s legacy of compassion, reminding the community that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference.
