The student-formed and student-led Joy Club at Mineola’s Jackson Avenue School proudly partnered with the Student Service Center at Mineola High School to support the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen through a meaningful, student-driven service initiative.
Third and fourth grade Joy Club members organized and facilitated a schoolwide “Making Change” Fundraiser, encouraging students and staff to donate spare change in support of individuals and families facing food insecurity. Through their efforts, the club raised more than $700 in coins, which will be donated alongside proceeds from the MINNeola Macaroni Night hosted by the Mineola High School Student Service Center.
Following the fundraiser, Joy Club members celebrated their hard work and generosity by presenting a large ceremonial check – along with the actual funds raised – to members of the Student Service Center. The event highlighted the power of collaboration across grade levels and showcased student leadership at every stage.
The donation will benefit the Mary Brennan INN, a Long Island organization dedicated to providing meals, shelter and comprehensive services to those in need.
The moment was a joyful reminder of how students of all ages can come together to make a positive impact, truly making the Mineola community #MineolaProud.
