During this year’s Book Fair Week at Manhasset schools, the spirit of giving was as prominent as the love of reading at Munsey Park Elementary School. The Munsey Park Kindness Club, in collaboration with the Manhasset School Community Association, spearheaded a community-wide book drive that collected over 1,400 gently used books.
The initiative ensures these stories reach children across the community. Donated books will stock the Munsey Park Free Little Library, located outside of the school auditorium, support The Book Fairies, an organization dedicated to sourcing books for under-resourced communities and provide a free book fair for students in the Adventures in Learning program.
The success of the drive serves as a testament to the generosity of Munsey Park families. By surpassing the 1,400-book milestone, the Kindness Club has ensured that over a thousand new adventures will find their way into the hands of young, eager readers.
Manhasset Public Schools extends gratitude to every family who contributed to making this year’s drive a record-breaking success, and thanks the SCA for their dedication to enhancing the educational experience and well-being of students through volunteerism, community events and collaborative school programs.
